A little update on my Alleria design (the oldie is still here [link])
Mostly a tweak with the colors, I didn't really liked how the red turned out; too saturated I guess, and too prevalent. So I switched the red segments for brown and the purple ones for red to keep the color present. I flirted with the idea of using green back then and now too a bit, but Alleria never struck me as a run-of-the-mill, green-clad Ranger.
Just as Sylvanas uses blue (which is not the most blend-ey color for a Ranger) I think that neither does Alleria, I see it as an issue of rank and occupation. As Sylvanas had to be visible for her troops in the battlefield, given her place as General of the Farstriders (or Ranger Corps). Alleria, as a captain herself, most likely wore her own custom armor: I chose brown/red because it's part of the palette of Quel'thalas and at the same time is less vibrant and more severe; a theme that seems to fit the battle hardened Alleria. Green just seems to happy!
And the cape and other blue details signify her membership to the Alliance, all pieces that are easy to change and are not part of her base armor, which is kinda the idea of the "team color" that units had on Warcraft III. I really like this palette overall for her Warcraft II version, and I was happy to find another piece her in dA with a very simmilar palette in dA instead the more mainstream green version [link]. (maybe I should have gone browner as well!)
I added again the face paint which I had removed from my final version, but had used on the Alleria quickie [link]. Also changed the hairstyle to the version I used in the Alleria Quickie: I spent a lot of time doodling that hairstyle today from different angles (it doesn't shows in today's update, but it will pay off soon) I just fell in love with the idea of her having really long straight hair, neatly braided when pulled back, not a strand of hair out of place in the fray of battle. Really uptight. Yet maybe even more severe when loose and falling like a silver waterfall, almost metalic.
In my of Windrunner headcannon, I see Alleria as the taller, stronger one; hair very similar in value to Veressa; very fair almost white, but with hints of golden and overall warmer than the tealish/silver hair of her youngest sister. Sylvanas on the other hand, had a very golden mane; her most striking attribute contrasting her taciturn face. Lithat would have been very blond as well. Alleria for all her severity, strikes me as a woman of great passion; this juxtaposition showing has her bloodlust in pursuing the horde; lethal, relentless. Unforgiving. But, at the same time, it was this innate passion that made her relationship with Turalyon happen.
Me agrada mucho el coloreado, se ve sencillo pero tiene muy buena pinta! ^-^
Of course they are both awesome!!
